Jedi Spotlight
Today's spotlight is on The Ganner himself. This spotlight was inspired by the latest issue of
Star Wars Insider. In issue #83 there is an article about the most memorable moments in the
Star Wars Expanded Universe. In this article on page 46 there is an amazing picture of Ganner
Rhysode. It is not very often that we get to see new artwork featuring Jedi from the Star Wars
novels. In fact, as far as I know there were only two official pictures ever released of Ganner (I
could be wrong here.) The one picture can be found on the cover of the Japanese version of
the novel Traitor, and the other can be found in the Insider magazine issue #57. So unless you
are Japanese or have a subscription to Insider, you may have never seen what this great Jedi
looked like.
Both pictures show Ganner pretty acurately as he is described in the New Jedi Order
novels. The new picture takes it a step further though. In the novel Traitor Ganner has
been searching for Jacen Solo tirelessly, and has let his pretty boy look fade
somewhat. By the time he is fighting for his life in the Well of the World Brain, he is
described as downright ragged. The new picture captures it perfectly. The magazine
got it right when they listed Ganner's last stand as one of the top EU moments, and the
picture in the article captures the moment just like so many of us imagined it while
reading the book. They even got the color of the lightsaber right. Purple. Remember,
Jacen gave Ganner Anakin Solo's weapon. Ganner sure knew how to use it.
